Tips for Beginners Using Kindle Fire

To borrow books from the library, you first need a valid Library Card from Saline County Library or Garland County Library. Some are even using the Central AR Library card from Little Rock which covers 19 libraries in the state. Garland and Saline Libraries have reciprocal library cards and loaning so you can get titles from either and the library card is good for two years at a time. The web pages look a little different for the libraries, but the process is the same. There are now over 1,500 books in Kindle format from these two libraries.

You will also need to download OverDrive Media Console free software which will convert your library books to Kindle format. Note it on the PDF attachment Saline County Directions sheet. When you choose a book and download it for your Kindle, it will go through your Amazon Account and download to your Kindle the next time you turn on your WiFi. Generally you will have 21 days for a regular book, and 7 days for an audio book. When the time is up, they will automatically return the book to the library. You have to do nothing.

If you go to your account and view your digital orders, in the "actions" drop down menu on the right of each title, you will see that a library book, which will be listed along with all your other digital orders, can be returned to the library before the 21 days are up. That is also the place where you can check to see if any of your prior book purchases are loan able. From that page, you can also loan a book as was demonstrated in the users group.

If you have an older Kindle model, you may have to download the book to your computer, plug your Kindle into the computer, then drag and drop the downloaded book into the documents folder on your Kindle.

We also reviewed the new releases that Kindle will put out in November. Check Amazon Kindle for the latest news and updates!!!

We had a very nice sized gathering today and you can see from the photo that we really did have a good time!!!
